SCHOOL OF MEDICINE DEVELOPMENT & ALUMNI AFFAIRS:

The Duke University School of Medicine (DUSoM) Development and Alumni Affairs office supports the activites of the MAA and fundraises on behalf of the DUSoM. The office roles are outlined below:

Alumni Affairs:

  • Continually enhance the relationship between the Duke University School of Medicine and medical alumni.
  • Increase the number of medical alumni involved with the Duke University School of Medicine.
  • Lay the foundation for lifelong relationships with future medical alumni.
  • Develop an effective volunteer organization that supports and implements the mission of the Medical Alumni Association.
  • Continually assess and address the needs of medical alumni through communication and programming.
  • Increase the impact of alumni on the Duke University School of Medicine's future through increased volunteer leadership, increased number of alumni contributors as well as increased level of financial support from alumni.

Development:

  • To communicate to both medical and house staff alumni the Dean’s priorities for the School of Medicine and how alumni can philanthropically partner with Duke to brainstorm this vision into reality.
  • To work with alumni volunteers to promote and expand membership in the Davison Club at all levels.
  • Partner with alumni to match their interest with the philanthropic needs of the School of Medicine to produce a desired outcome.
  • To work with members of all graduating classes to make a Duke medical education available to all qualified students regardless of financial need through based scholarship dollars.
  • Continue to explore ways to broaden the base of philanthropic support among all medical school and house staff alumni via the development of a volunteer driven peer referral program.
  • Bring philanthropy and professional networking in like circles.
  • To keep donors informed once a gift is made to the projects that their dollars have made possible.
